The Importance of Event Videography

Record Your Special Day in 4K. When Things Go Wrong, Memories Can Be Lost Forever!

The Importance of Event Videography

Kitchen Family - Live Aid Day 13th July 1985

The importance of event videography should be on everyone's mind. Whether you are holding a huge corporate event or rare family gathering, get it recorded. Those events are special and something to be cherished and looked back upon in years to come. Let us help you record them!

Back in 1985, on the 13th July, I had just turned 18.

That day was Live Aid day and it just happened to be the hottest day of the year. Not only that, it was the Golden Wedding Anniversary of my grandparents. We had organised a monster party in the house and garden where we all lived which was probably the most memorable and fantastic day we have had as a family.

Event Videography

I had already been into photography for a number of years and had dabbled with video. Because this was a full on celebration day, I decided to film it on a VHS video tape recorder (no digital back then). I made sure to capture everything and everyone and can still just about remember various sections of that tape:

  • Filming my grandfather in his lounge
  • Recording my cousins making Vodka and orange drinks
  • Standing on the roof of the house to record everyone outside
  • Filming my older cousin fast asleep at the end of the day

You see, I only have vague memories of that wonderful day because not long after, someone in my family who shall remain nameless, decided to record over the entire event with a western movie! It had gone forever…no back-up, no second copy, nothing! I was gutted to say the least.

What makes it worse is that not long after that day, we lost my grandmother and auntie and then about 10 years later, my granddad had passed too. I would give anything to see that video now.

The photos (above) are pretty much the only record of that day that we have now. Do you like the 80’s dress sense? That’s me at the front with the white “Swatch”, white trousers and black and white shirt!

My Point?

The whole point of this story is…if you have a major family event coming up, you need to:

  • 1
    Record the day in full
  • 2
Get someone else to do it for you

Even though I enjoyed filming that Golden Wedding day in 1985, I still missed out on a lot of the party. This was because even back then, I wanted to do a good job of filming and recording this amazing day.

Let me come along to your special day, whatever it is, and record it in full using multiple cameras. I will record in full, glorious 4K for future-proofing quality! You won’t regret it when you are looking back in 20-30 years and showing it off to family members that aren’t even born yet.

I can film:

  • Sports days
  • Weddings
  • Family parties or gatherings
  • Christenings
  • Engagement parties
  • Stag parties
  • Hen nights
  • Wedding anniversaries
  • A day in the life
  • Basically, anything!

I hope you understand the importance of recording these events as much as I do.

Equipment and Reasons to Book Me

I use a number of different cameras of all shapes and sizes. Cameras from broadcast quality 4K video to small “point of view” and wearable cameras placed anywhere and everywhere. This will ensure we capture the action from all angles. I am both unobtrusive and also “in your face” depending on what is happening at that moment.

Imagine in 30 years time, seeing family members:

  • 1
    Being interviewed
  • 2
    Playing silly games
  • 3
    Doing their favourite thing
  • 4
    Simply just having fun

Like I said, I would give anything to have my video from 1985 back again. It was the largest family gathering we have ever had and no doubt will ever have now. My grandparents were the pinnacle of our family back then but have since long gone.

For more information about what I can do to help, please either call or email me to arrange a time and date to meet and discuss your special occasion.

Thank you,

Nick Stubbs
