Drone Roof Inspection Finds Potential Problem

Aerial Roof Inspections Portland

I recently had a call from a person about to buy a property in Fortuneswell on Portland, Dorset. The person was concerned about some damp patches in one of the upper bedrooms.

After all preparations were done:

  • Risk Assessment
  • Safety Brief
  • Pre-Flight Assessments etc

...I headed out as soon as there was a break in the weather to inspect the roof in question. The property was in a built up area so the appropriate drone and safety measures were undertaken and the flight done.

Within minutes there was an imminent attack by angry seagulls nearby as it is their nesting season. Knowing this, I had planned the shoot to be as quick as possible whilst getting all the necessary shots. Which I did just before they started to get too close.

I landed, got home, edited the shots and had them uploaded to DropBox for client delivery within 2 hours. Another successful roof inspection that showed the issue was most likely due to a rotting window surround rather than a roof or tiling problem.

The roof survey also showed that one of the gutters was blocked which could also present problems down the line.

Another happy customer...

"Nick undertook an aerial survey of the roof on a listed building we are in the process of purchasing. Using his drone, Nick was able to get detailed shots of the roof, which would otherwise only have been accessible using expensive scaffolding.

Although his flight was cut short by the attentions of local seagulls(!), Nick returned with another camera to get a shot of a specific detail we needed. Nick's photos showed us an area of the building which we would otherwise have not been able to inspect, giving us valuable information and the confidence to move ahead with the purchase.

In addition, we found Nick's charges to be very reasonable. We would not hesitate to use Nick's services again for any similar projects."

Using a drone and professional operator/pilot for your roof inspection can save a bundle of cash otherwise spent on scaffolding. If you have questions or concerns about:

  • Birds nests obstructing guttering
  • Broken, damaged or missing roof tiles
  • Damp problems
  • Storm damage

...please get in touch right away. Obviously we are limited to our flight times by the weather so the sooner you get the roof inspection done, the better. Contact me today and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
