Bournemouth Italian Job Aerial Video
Filming the Crazy Spoof Italian Job with Paul Swift
A while ago I was approached by Plato Video of Bournemouth. Would I be available to do the aerial video for a promotional video going out this summer? It was to promote the Bournemouth Wheels Festival in June so I jumped at the chance.
We had been to this festival before as a family and loved it. There is something for everyone at this superb event, especially you petrol heads!
I had a super early start (pre-sunrise) and kept my eye on the wind leading up to the start of filming. The weather held, the winds grew but it didn’t prevent me from flying. And so the day began.
We had leaders from the local Bournemouth council with us overseeing everything. they even got involved with a bit of "acting". Also present, doing the driving in the minis, were Paul Swift (from Paul Swift Precision Driving) and his team. Paul is well known for his driving on many Top Gear events including the live shows.
Permission Granted
With full council permission, I was able to fly in some really cool parts of Bournemouth. This included the park with the bandstand and balloon and both piers where the cars tore up the decking. We also spent some time filming the cars as they raced down the steep and tight zig zag pathway to the beach.
All in all, it was a superb, tiring and fun day. Here (below) is the final video (courtesy of Plato Video) and a small selection of images from the day.
