I absolutely loved doing this shoot on Portland and we got so lucky with the weather. With a stunning, sunny morning forecast for the shoot day, I went the day before to do a dry run. A VERY early morning in May. Think 5am start.

I wanted to test the drone, the sun's location at sunrise, the wind conditions, the settings I needed and the best place for me to stand for the best shots. I also needed to check the audio as Ian and Shona would be wearing microphones for the narration.

The audio was super clear (thanks DJI : ) and the weather was simply stunning. Here's a small gallery of screen grabs from those tests...

I was so pleased with the results and was really looking forward to the following morning. All was set for another early start with the guys from Curated Cottages (the lovely Ian and Shona) eager to get this done. I also helped them put together the video on their website homepage which includes some of my clips.

We all arrived at Portland Bill to another stunning morning "pre" sunrise. We had a few minutes to get positioned with the drone ready to go and then just waited for that first ping of light on the horizon.

Other than a chill in the air, the conditions couldn't have been more perfect! Here is another small gallery of frame grabs from the final video.
