Glider Yacht Video Shoot in Porchester

Luxury Sports Super-yachts for the Rich and Famous

The Glider Yacht is a concept yacht thought up by engineer and designer Robert McCall. It is classed as a high performance, luxury Super Yacht with revolutionary hull form, propulsion and stability systems. The Glider is 50% faster and 50% more stable than leading sports Super Yachts and is also 60% more fuel efficient.

For the past few months, I have been dealing with Glider Yachts and desperately waiting for this concept super-yacht to be launched. The plan was for me to film this amazing yacht from the air using our 4K video drone.

Recently, everything fell into place and we finally got to see this machine in action. The weather was great, the water was perfect and we even had a bunch of models join us for the day.

The concept is that this super yacht (Glider) will do as its name suggests. It will glide through any water regardless of wave or swell activity. This, in theory, will allow you to pour Champagne on deck whilst blazing through choppy seas.

Aimed at the wealthy super-yacht market, the Glider is designed to act as a taxi service of sorts. Taking passengers from the main yacht, in say the Caribbean, to the beach, shore or port. The design of the Glider Yacht will allow it to be beached for alighting and then pull itself back out to sea.

It can also turn on a sixpence like a tank.

No Fly Zone

When the time came, unfortunately I wasn’t able to film the Glider from the skies but instead used our new, amazing stabilising system to film the yacht from a rib speeding alongside.

The gimbal acts in the same way as the aerial gimbal. It allows me to obtain super stable footage whilst bouncing along the sea in this powerful rib.

Here is the footage from that day and if you want to learn more, please head over to Glider Yachts on Facebook and like their page.

The Glider on its maiden voyage with guests…

If you buy one, tell them you saw the Glider here 1st. I may get a ride in one as thanks ; )

  • 18m range – For the day sports market
  • 22/24m – For the super-yacht support and limousine market
  • 30 to 80m Sports super-yachts – For the younger, “high net-worth” individuals looking for a new and exciting alternative to the traditional super-yachts

The interiors of the larger yachts are to have interiors matching that or private jets…nice!

You can see the Glider Yacht at the London on Water Yacht and Boat Show from the 4th - 7th May 2016. It will be at St Katharine Docks, London, berth C18. Find out more about Glider Yachts. Note 2018: This has now ended.
