It's that time again where I upgrade my camera gear. I try to leave it as long as possible each time but when tech this good comes out, it's hard not to jump right in. This camera is perfect for wedding photography, commercial shoots and very high end video...including film work.

I woke up one recent Saturday morning ready to get out and about with a new camera. The Panasonic Lumix S1H that shoots up to 6K video and is the first mirrorless camera to be "Netflix Approved". Serious stuff.

Anyway, the weather was awful. It was misty, chilly and it had been raining all night. I was about to jack it in and work on my websites when Sonia showed me a quick photo she took with her phone. Being artistic herself with a good eye for these things, she showed me water droplets on some wheat we have in the garden.

That was all the inspiration I needed so I popped inside, grabbed the camera, tripod and macro lens and spent the next half an hour filming and photographing a lump of grass! I'm sure the neighbours thought I was mad but I was pretty happy with the results.

The Panasonic S1H is an amazing camera with more features than I will ever need.

Hopefully Inspiring Others

I have been teaching photography, (and video) for years. I guess I am posting this to motivate anyone with a camera to forget the weather and look more closely at things that surround you every day for inspiration. It could be anything.

Magnifier and Flashlight App

If you want to try out some macro photography or video for yourself, check out this app. It is the "Magnifier and Flashlight" app for Android phones (might be available for IOS too). Very cool so no excuse because it is free. Grab it, load it and head out!

You could always upload your own motivation video on YouTube (if you have an account : )

Panasonic S1H Frame Grab

Just to finish off, here is a frame grab from one of the clips.
