Drone Training with a Full Video Thrown In
When a 1/2 day drone video course became a lot more
I recently received a call requesting some drone training. The lady in question wanted to have her small drone follow her as she rode through the village she lived in. All pretty simple. It weighed under 250g so I agreed and we met for the training.
The "aha" moments came when Dinah got to grips with her drone and learned to fly it really well for such a newcomer. However, we soon discovered that her drone wasn't capable of getting the results she needed.
The next step
Dinah then asked if I could do the filming for her using my drone. All she wanted was a couple of clips of her riding the electric bike that her young nephew had recommended. She wanted to send a short video clip by way of a small thank you.
Well, we discussed the shoot and started to form a short storyboard with the bike ride and a little extra.
Dinah rents out her wonderful property in the summer and when autumn arrives and the last guests have left, she heads to Arne in Dorset to inspect and clean/repair the property ready for her to move into for the winter.
This is the video we ended up making for her nephews.

So not only did Dinah get her drone training, she also experienced the making of a short story. We shot at a few locations out and about in her village followed by a quick shoot at the barn. Dinah insisted that I appear in the final clip too : )
I had a great time shooting this and teaching Dinah who, whilst learning a lot, also thoroughly enjoyed the day. The feedback was great from both Dinah and her nephews/friends so all in all a successful course and shoot.
