Man, I love my job! The wonderful and incredibly professional Events Crew in Sherborne contacted me recently to ask if I would film their annual fireworks display. It was to be held at the beautiful Sherborne Castle...of course, challenge accepted!
Luckily I had recently added night flying to my operations manual with the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority). Therefore I am fully insured with permission to fly at night for events such as this fireworks display. I use additional lights on the drone, which are incredibly bright. So much so, all the Events Crew team could see the drone through 20 minutes of fireworks and from over half a kilometer away!
Not only did I fly the drone to film the fireworks, I also filmed the crew getting the site ready throughout the day. Plus I filmed people arriving and having fun prior to the display. During the main event, I also set up numerous cameras on the ground to ensure that I captured the complete awesomeness of this event.
